Vascular surgery

The vascular department at Skåne University Hospital treats all kinds of diseases of the blood vessels and is one of Sweden's most experienced when it comes with certain treatment methods using catheter technology, such as the treatment of aneurysms.

We are located in Malmö, where we provide outpatient care, inpatient care, an endovascular surgical unit, and administration. As one of Skåne University Hospital's profile areas, we are responsible for vascular care in the southwestern and central healthcare districts in Skåne, as well as for the highly specialised treatment of vascular diseases in the entire southern healthcare region.

Every year, we treat and care for approximately 1,800 patients with conditions such as narrowing of the carotid artery, aortic aneurysms, and diseases in the arteries of the legs. We perform treatments using both catheter techniques and open surgery.

We also have a large outpatient clinic with around 5,000 visits per year to doctors, nurses, and biomedical analysts. One of our tasks at the clinic is to offer men over the age of 65 a health examination to detect abdominal aortic aneurysms.
