Perioperative intensive care

We secure surgical care, life-saving treatment and pain relief when the hospital’s patients need us. Intensive and perioperative Care ensures that patients receive effective pain relief, anaesthesia (narcosis), surgical care, postoperative care and intensive care

In Lund, we provide anaesthesia and surgical care for surgery, orthopaedics and otorhinolaryngology. We also provide anaesthesia for neurosurgery, ophthalmology, gynaecology, oral surgery and oncology.

In Malmö, we provide anaesthetic and surgical care for surgery, vascular surgery, urology, orthopaedics, otorhinolaryngology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, hand surgery and gynaecological healthcare.

We are responsible for acute highly specialised intensive care in both Malmö and Lund.

Intensive and perioperative care is also responsible for Skåne University Hospital’s overall sterile technology activities and the hospital’s pain unit for acute, postoperative and cancer-related pain. We also have one of Sweden’s biggest and leading assessment clinics for malignant hyperthermia disorder.

Intensive and perioperative care plays an active part in reporting to two national quality registers in order to evaluate and improve Swedish healthcare. Our intensive care departments report to the Swedish intensive care register (SIR). Quality data and activity data for Skåne University Hospital and Intensive and perioperative care's surgical activities are reported to the Swedish Perioperative Register (SPOR). The information on national quality registers can be accessed via www.kvalitetsregister.se, where links to specific information on SIR and SPOR can also be found.
