Vascular surgery

The Vascular department at Skåne University Hospital treats all types of blood vessel diseases and is one of Sweden’s most experienced centres in advanced catheter-based treatments, such as aneurysm repair.

We are based in Malmö, where we provide outpatient care, inpatient care, an endovascular surgical unit, and administrative services. As one of Skåne University Hospital's key specialist areas, we are responsible for vascular care in the southwestern and central healthcare districts of Skåne, as well as for highly specialised vascular treatments across the entire southern healthcare region.

Each year, we care for approximately 1,800 patients with conditions such as carotid artery stenosis, aortic aneurysms, and peripheral arterial disease. We perform treatments using both minimally invasive catheter techniques and open surgery.

We also run a large outpatient clinic, handling around 5,000 patient visits annually, where doctors, nurses, and biomedical analysts provide specialised care. One of our key responsibilities is offering men over 65 a health screening to detect abdominal aortic aneurysms.
