Oral surgery

The Oral Surgery service is one of Sweden’s larger centres in its field, with clinics at Skåne University Hospital and at the hospitals in Helsingborg and Kristianstad. The service is coordinated from Skåne University Hospital, where particular expertise is concentrated in the treatment of rare conditions and orthodontic-related surgery.

Our team includes oral surgeons, orthodontists, oral medicine specialists, specialist dental nurses, and medical secretaries.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery includes both routine and highly specialised procedures in the oral cavity and surrounding tissues. These may include tooth extractions, placement of dental implants, jawbone reconstruction, and the treatment of oral mucosal diseases and temporomandibular disorders.

The centre also hosts one of Sweden’s largest clinical units for orthognathic surgery.

We are also part of the cleft lip and palate (CLP) team, which collaborates with ear, nose and throat specialists, plastic surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. The team provides comprehensive care for children born with cleft-related and other craniofacial abnormalities.

Research

We conduct research in several areas, including orthognathic surgery planning, osteonecrosis, and temporomandibular disorder treatments.
