Geriatrics
Geriatrics provides care, research and education in respect of the health of older people. Geriatrics deals with diseases in older people and takes into account the interaction of medical, psychological and social factors that influence morbidity.
Research
We conduct research into ageing. Key research areas include cognitive function in older people, particularly atherosclerosis, diet, causes of falls and fractures, and population-based studies regarding health, functional capacity and utilisation of healthcare and care services among older people.
We work in collaboration with other healthcare services in Region Skåne and the city of Malmö, and in close partnership with geriatric research at the Department of Health Sciences at Lund University.
