Geriatrics
Geriatrics encompasses care, research, and education related to the health of older people. It focuses on diseases affecting older adults while considering the interaction of medical, psychological, and social factors that influence morbidity.
Research
We conduct research into ageing, with key areas including cognitive function in older adults, particularly in relation to atherosclerosis, diet, causes of falls and fractures, and population-based studies on health, functional capacity, and the utilisation of healthcare and care services among older people.
We collaborate with other healthcare services within Region Skåne and the city of Malmö, working in close partnership with geriatric research at the Department of Health Sciences at Lund University.
