Emergency care
Accident and emergency departments deal mainly with serious illnesses and accidents. Patients are usually seen here by emergency doctors with a wide range of expertise. There are also nurses with specialised training in emergency care, assistant nurses with specialist training in aspects such as plastering techniques, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and medical secretaries, all of whom have training and experience of working at an accident and emergency department.
Research
We conduct significant research activities in emergency care. The broad research team includes docents, doctoral students and several levels of doctors and nurses. For instance, we work with:
- diagnosis of myocardial infarction and unstable angina
- prioritisation and risk assessment (triage)
- checklists for the emergency room
- decision support based on artificial intelligence
- lead times, workload and care outcomes at the Accident and emergency department
